The border collie is, like most sheepherding descent, down direct from persian sheepdog. The breed dates back in the 1700s though it was actually not given its present name till 1915. Collie worked pastor by the border between scotland and england for many years, the pure bred for the ability out to work. A few border ranchers worry the emphasis on appearance and beauty will lead in the destruction of breeding and, so, still concentrating primarily by the quality of their total work.
